Farzan Mahdavi Ardabili
Early Life & Formative Years
Born in Tehran, Iran in November 1961, Farzan grew up at a crossroads of cultures. At Saint, Louis, a French Catholic school in Tehran, he was first introduced to the imaginative worlds of Jules Verne, an encounter that would shape his lifelong curiosity about the future, technology, and human resilience.
Displacement & Survival
The Iranian Revolution of 1979 dismantled the life he knew. By 1983, amid the brutal Iran-Iraq War, Farzan seized a rare opportunity to move to the United States, where he studied computer science. After a painful return to Iran and years of uncertainty, he made the life-changing decision to leave his homeland for good — migrating to Vancouver in 1996.

Mission for the Earth
By 1998, haunted by personal loss and global turmoil, Farzan began writing Mission for the Earth. What started as a private act of healing evolved into a powerful literary work — one that uniquely blends science fiction with real-life events. The book is both an autobiography and a vision, reflecting his struggles, migrations, and unwavering hope for humanity.
I didn’t choose to write. I wrote to survive, and to understand.
